
Tête-à-la-Balaine is one of the only three French-speaking communities of the Duplessis region is characterized by its jagged coasts and by the lack of a road network to go from one village to the other">Basse-Côte-Nord. This village owes its name to one of the many islands of the archipelago. The inhabitants create arts and crafts and other objects made from seal fur. A snowmobile path going from Natashquan and Blanc-Sablon can take you here. From the land, you can see the Île Providence, a summer village for the village’s inhabitants in which the oldest chapel of the area was built in 1895. Nowadays, the old presbytery hosts an inn to welcome visitors to the island.
